3 Things to Ask Your Esthetician During Your Next Facial

Here’s some beauty advice to keep in mind for your next facial. Pop these questions in between extractions.

Product Recommendations

Make sure you let your esthetician know what products you currently use. They might recommend some new products to improve your skincare routine and potentially ditch any that aren’t serving you well. Here’s some advice my esthetician, Nourhan from HeyDay, shared with me during my last visit.

“It is very important for our clients to understand the benefits of the products we recommend for them. Always ask your esthetician how this product is going to benefit your skin type and concerns, the right steps and order to use those products, and how many times a week to use them.”

Make your facial count by keeping your skin clean between appointments! Nourhan explained, “Clients need to know how they can improve their skin outside of the spa room. It is a 70/30 ratio in which 70% of your skincare goal will be achieved at home and 30% will be achieved when you come in for your facial every month. So it is very important to discuss your at-home skincare routine with your therapist.”

Skincare Routine

Momma always told me cleansing is the most important step of your routine! Nourhan’s advice… Consistency. “Find a routine that you can stick with morning and night that will benefit your skin needs. Everyone needs a good cleanser that is non-stripping, but really cleans deep into those pores, followed by a toner that will balance the skin’s pH level and refresh it. A hyaluronic acid serum works very well to hydrate and moisturize the skin leaving it plump and soft! We can’t forget the moisturizer and the absolute number one key in our skincare routine before going out in the sun is the SPF, which will help us fight sun damage, aging, skin cancer, and hyperpigmentation.” Be honest with your skin care therapist… Even if you exfoliate too much, like me.

Skin Concerns

I can’t think of a better time to share any concerns about your skin than when you’re sitting in a spa with a licensed esthetician. Experiencing any scarring or strange marks from those pimples you claim you never picked? Now’s your time to come clean and let your esthy know.
