Eat Clean Bro

Just checked out Eat Clean Bro (a.k.a. “ECB”), placed my first order, and loved it! It’s so quick and convenient. No — it’s not fast food! These are fresh cooked meals prepped and delivered straight to your door. ECB is based out in New Jersey, so I got my delivery fairly quickly because I’m right over in New York City.

Convenience

This quarantine has proven maintaining a work-life balance to be quite the challenge, so meal prepping has been a great alternative for cooking dinner every single night.

My day starts at the crack of dawn, I work long hours, and extracurricular activities make it difficult to get home and cook a meal every night. I just pop an ECB meal in the microwave before I leave work for drinks with the girls, and then I can skip all of the extra appetizers.

Flavor

The food itself is delish and some of it maybe even considered gourmet. Either way, flavor is super important to me because I never last long eating cardboard. And the second most important requirement is health. ECB provides chef-prepared meals that don’t include processed food, chemicals, or preservatives. So these are fresh meals, not refrigerated. I’m definitely not a 100% organic food expert, but that’s something that means a lot to you coming from your food, Eat Clean Bro is a good fit for you.

Options

There are lots of options, so I don’t get bored. Thinking back to several previous orders, I’ve probably gone two to three months at a time without any “ECB Fatigue.” There are basic “lean and green” meals that consist of a protein and vegetable. But because these are portioned out, I just go with the Basic Elite meal options that have rice or potatoes with the protein and veggies. The Texas Beef & Cauliflower Mac is an awesome gluten-free option and so is the Gluten-Free Crack.

Complaints

If there is any complaint that I do have, it would be that any of their fish dishes tend to be a little too fishy for my liking. I know that sounds odd, but think of The Situation, which has shrimp, chicken, and broccoli over some protein noodles. The flavor of the shrimp overshadowed the taste of everything else in the meal, including the noodles. I feel like leftover fish doesn’t really keep to well to begin with, so that’s why I only cook enough fish for one meal setting.

And I’m not a huge fan of chicken thighs because I prefer the breast. I know everyone thinks that’s weird because chicken breasts are the driest part of the bird, but that’s just the way I roll. That being said, I probably won’t order the General Bro’s Chicken again just for that reason. It tasted perfectly fine though.

If you live outside of the New York City area, ECB ships your meals via UPS. And in that case, there’s a chance your meals will get shooken up. This has only happened once and UPS is 100% to blame for that one.
