I celebrated Cinco de Mayo with some girl friends over at Mexicue in Stamford, CT. I'm loving the trendy concept of Mexican food here. It's sort of a mix between Mexican food and BBQ. And ya'll know I'm huge fan of BBQ!

The Wild Rock Shrimp (picture on the left) has some slaw, sliced mango, salsa verde, creamy chipotle mayo sauce, and cilantro. I'm not a fan of coleslaw, but it was one of the lighter ingredients on the taco, so I didn't mind it. The mango gives it that sweet taste and then the chipotle sauce gives it some spice for the perfect flavor. And most importantly, there were like 5 whole shrimps! #WINNING There’s nothing that drives me more insane than restaurants skimming on the meat and fish, whether it’s in tacos or pasta dishes.

I also tried the Smoky Chicken taco and the Brisket Taco. They both had good quality meat, which was a plus because I hate fatty meat with a passion. Oh, and the chips and guac were awesome too. Devoured too soon to snap a pic. My bad!

I enjoyed the Mexicue Mule (aka the Moscow Mule at Mexicue). Apparently, it won Thirsty Mag's "Drink of the Week" a few years back. This super refreshing cocktail is a mix of fresh squeezed lime juice, chilled ginger beer, a bit of ginger syrup, and finished off with King's County Bourbon. Interesting that they don't use vodka.
