A brief intro…
“Adaleta Avdić was born in Bosnia in the early ‘90s and came to the United States as a refugee when she was 5 years old. Having escaped a life of hardship and war, her and her family arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where they were part of a Catholic refugee rescue, taken in by a Catholic priest and his family. The help from the church allowed Avdićs family to start a new life in the United States and afforded her dad the opportunity to become a professional pilot. As his career progressed, it would take Avdić’s family to Los Angeles three years later.” Read more about Adaleta here.
Tell us about your career path. How did you end up where you are?
I started this blog as a way to write about electronic dance events I attended from January to June of 2013, but it has since evolved into a lifestyle and beauty blog. My passion for writing and social networking has gotten the best of me; I want to share my travel adventures, life advice, beauty recommendations & fashion pieces with family, friends, and strangers who have a knack for any or all the above.
What do you feel has always been your passion and how does it play into your current role?
I've always been passionate about writing, and truthfully I started with the long form blog posts (6 paragraphs, 1 tiny thumbnail image) so I am happy to be writing and sharing my thoughts through words.
How and when did you start your blog or side gig? Is blogging full time for you?
I started blogging in 2012, and I went full-time in 2018. This is my full-time gig now.
When did you decide to go full time with blogging? Why were you willing to leave the stability of your "9 to 5"?
I had a moment where two trips popped up and I had to make a decision because I had no more PTO (aka Paid Time Off) in my corporate job.
What makes you a boss?
I have an ability to adapt, take constructive criticism and do what needs to be done to support my team, whether or not it's the “easy” decision.
What has been the proudest moment in your career and personal life?
My proudest moment is when I was able to go full-time, but then also when I brought my fiancé on to the team end of 2019.
What is the hardest decision you've ever had to make? Leaving my corporate job in the tourism space, was by far, the hardest decision I've had to make.
What's your mantra or a quote you live by?
The early bird gets the worm. Every time I wake up early, I get SO much more done, it's crazy!
Why should everyone have a #LadyTribe to lean on? Who's yours?
Women can be your greatest supporters, and I absolutely love my 2 best friends who cheer me on DAILY (yes DAILY!) They not only support me emotionally and physically, they are the best people I know and help me stay on trend and share the best items to my audience.
What passion project are you working on right now?
My podcast is my passion project at the moment. There is no revenue there, but I love learning (and sharing with listeners) the amazing guests, their careers and all the things they do day in and day out to be so successful.
What's your next big move?
I'm not too sure at the moment, but I know I want to work towards writing a book. (Stay tuned!)
