Fall 2022 Hair Trends

'Tis the season for brunettes! After a nice long beige blonde summer, I’m back to what I like to call bronde for the Fall.

As we transition into the chilly autumnal weather, chocolate lowlights and caramel balayages are definitely trending. If you’re starting off with a very bleachy blonde, ask your colorist about how to best “melt” your roots and blend your hair into a darker color. Also love the pumpkin-spiced copper tones I’m seeing lately. I skipped out on the bold money piece this time because my hair got a little over-processed at my last appointment, but those are trending too.

Always bring hair color and style inspo to the appointment, so your stylist can see exactly what you want. But I also recommend managing your expectations because everyone’s hair is different, so the color and shape you want may not look exactly how you imagined on your head. I scope out “Fall Hair” searches on Pinterest or the #FallBalayage hashtag on Instagram all the time, so I’m always prepared for my hair color appointments, whether it’s for refreshing or transitioning.

A recent Citrine email newsletter revealed some of the fifty shades of brunette that are trending this season! Not surprisingly, blondes are switching over to warmer caramel and dark chocolate tones for the Fall. Apparently melted roots and the high-contrast beige bronde are also very popular this season.

And of course when it comes to hair health, just let your stylist give you a nice chop to keep your mane happy and healthy. Go for some layers that frame your face!

If you’re ready to transition your hair into the Fall and live in the Hudson Valley, book an appointment with the Citrine Salon team (or your local hair stylist). All of the trending colors mentioned in this post are bold for easy finding later, so bookmark it.
