A Wine & Cheese Pairing Experience by Bright Cellars & The Tasting Room

Wine from Bright Cellars

Here’s a breakdown of my first wine box. The introductory offer from Bright Cellars is $50 off your first box, so my wine box came to $38, which isn’t bad considering each bottle is discounted to $9.50. My favorite part of the wine tasting experience was the wine cards with information about each bottle, like the tasting notes and tannins. And they paired perfectly with the cheeses below.

  1. Indulu - Red Blend, 2019 - Western Cape, South Africa

  2. Silverscape - Syrah, 2018 - Monterey, California

  3. Crypsis - Petite Sirah, 2019 - Lodi, California

  4. Rising Tale - Cabernet Sauvignon, 2020 - Valle Central, Chile

I really enjoyed one of the four wines — the Crypsis. The rest were just good, but nothing special. And the Indulu would definitely be my go-to because it’s a decent red blend that pairs well with most meats, so it’s a good dinner wine. Rising Tale is another wine that I might add to my “Order Again” list because I love a good cabernet sauvignon, when I’m not chugging a glass of merlot.

How it Works

The first step to the experience is taking a quiz about your preferred flavors and foods so that your “virtual sommelier” can select a customized box of wine for you. Then, try four wines (or more) for $80 per month, and enjoy monthly. You can skip or cancel the subscription whenever you’d like. Just a tip… Add the teal wine key just in case you lose them around the house all of the time as I do. Ideally, the box will get better over time depending on how you rate each wine. So to be fair, I haven’t fully give Bright Cellars a chance. Stay tuned for part two of this blog post, when I circle back and give them another try for a few months.

Earning Rewards

You can earn rewards by purchasing wine or referring friends. Reward points can be redeemed on a corkscrew, bottle of wine, or cheese box. Your box will improve as you rate your wine experiences using the “Bright Points” algorithm to curate monthly boxes you’ll love more and more every time.

Cheese from The Tasting Board

After I purchased my first box of wine with a sweet introductory offer, I was prompted to add cheese pairings to my wine tasting experience. That was a no-brainer for me. I enhanced my wine tasting experience with four delicious choices of cheese from The Tasting Board for $48, which would normally cost $55. You then have the option of subscribing to their monthly box for $55 but of course, there are no obligations. I prefer to pick up new cheeses to try from my local dairy shops and farmers’ markets, but this is a great add-on if you play to continue these monthly subscriptions of both wine and cheese. This part was very similar to the wine tasting where there were a few informational cards about each of the cheeses and the best tools to use for various cheeses (ie soft brie or hard cheddar). Please also note the tips on storage for your cheese.
