A Coffee Inspired Mani Pedi
I know dark shades of brown are supposed to be for the Fall, but I’ve just been on a coffee-everything kick lately. Hence, my new claws this month. I chose the dipping powder color #100, which is a very dark brown called “Lonely girls fairytale.” When the nail tech asked me what shape, I went for the Almond shape since I’ve been drinking it in my morning coffee these days. Plus, I’ve always done the square or “squoval” (square + oval) nail shape, which I hear is going out of style. I’ll save you the grief of looking at my feet, unless you’re into that sort of thing. Lol. I chose a cream color for my toes, which is linked below.
As usual, I always recommend that you B.Y.O.P. (Bring Your Own Polish), so here’s the closest match to my Essie color— Rainwear, Don’t Care. It’s available on Amazon. If you’re looking for something a little more opaque, try Ballet Slippers instead. I don’t normally bring my own dipping powder, but if I find a neutral color I really love, I might consider it.

Affina Nails & Spa
I had my mani-pedi done at Affina Nails Spa located on Church Street in lower Manhattan. It’s technically in TriBeCa, but it’s a short enough walk from the World Trade Center downtown. Here’s the price list that I found on the website, except it may be different now and I believe they charge a “Covid Tax,” so call ahead if you want to check prices before you go. Like many nail salons in Manhattan, there is a 5% discount when you pay cash. The cash incentive is kind of annoying, but if you have cash on hand, the discount is nice.
Here are the deets on the pearly whites I was flashing last month. These Vanilla Chrome nails were the perfect neutral for every outfit I wore.
