Malibu Farm NYC

Malibu Farm is a farm-to-table restaurant located at Pier 17 within the Seaport District of New York City. The Financial District is one of the more low-key hangouts in Manhattan because it's physically the lowest place in the city. This female-owned restaurant started in Newport, California, and now has locations throughout the U.S. I've also been to the South Beach, Miami location and my experience at both venues was pretty uniform. Take a read below for my recommendations. Here’s the menu to look at ahead of time. Don’t forget to book a Resy!

Here’s a Recap of the Meal

I ate both lunch and dinner at Malibu Farm at the Seaport and loved it each time.

Start with drinks!

I typically order a cocktail if I’m waiting for someone or it could just be something I sub-consciously do because I plan on staying a while. This right here is the Smoked Peach Gimlet, which you’ll enjoy if you like margaritas with a spicy salted rim.

Try namesake cocktails.

I ordered the Malibu Maker because I always assume that a branded or namesake menu item is a signature cocktail or dish the restaurant or bar is well-known for.

Get to the point.

Sometimes I order appetizers if I want to try new things or feel extra hungry, but most of the time, I just stick to an entrée. I asked the waitress for a recommendation, after telling her I couldn’t decide between the chicken or steak options on the menu. She advised me to “Just get the steak, girl!” And I’m so glad I listened! The Soy Ginger Marinated Skirt Steak served over butternut squash mash and date semi glace was perfect in regards to both the flavor and portion size.

Just order the damn chicken please!

I enjoyed the Mustard Marinated Chicken during my second visit, despite my better judgment, after reading this advice in articles from chefs and food bloggers.

Save room for dessert… Or take a treat to go.

This Vanilla Oatmilk Latte wasn’t even on the menu. Faith, my amazing waitress, went above and beyond to make me a warm treat after dinner. I felt so cozy and right at home. The standard of hospitality is pretty high.

Grab a burger!

If you’re a picky eater or just don’t want anything healthy, you can’t go wrong with a burger. Not only is their Double Cheese Burger amazing, but the potatoes on the side are the bomb dot com.

COVID-19 Protocols

Like many NYC restaurants, Malibu Farm is accepting reservations on the Resy app, which will most likely confirm your scheduled time to visit once more than they usually did pre-COVID. More importantly, Resy will ask for your contact info and home address for contract tracing purposes. I know some people are freaked out by this, but I greatly appreciate these new safety features because I got a call right away to let me know that I may have come in contact with someone who tested positive for COVD-19 at the restaurant I had dinner in the night before. Luckily, I tested negative! But, I was relieved that they got a hold of me right away before I potentially continued spreading COVID-19 around. Here are screenshots of what the contact form looks like in the Resy app. If you have any questions or concerns, check out Malibu Farm’s Guest Experience webpage.

The Tea

So there are no prices on the menu, which is usually the first sign that a restaurant might be pricy. My first visit wasn’t bad because I was only a part of one ordering a main dish and a cocktail for lunch. The second visit cost a little over $100, before the tip. All in all, I felt that the value of my dinner was well worth what I paid. My only complaint this time around would have to be that the service was a little slow but other than that, I enjoyed both visits. The staff are so friendly and make you feel right at home.

More Food Porn

Here is some more social media coverage paired with more food photos from my second visit… Gotta get them angles!
