A Visit to The Dead Rabbit During the COVID-19 Era
This was my first visit back to The Dead Rabbit since the beginning of the pandemic. Wait times have always been long, but it’s always been worth the wait in my experience. Mario was my server and BLANK was the hostess, but I late found out she’s actually the manager.
Foodie Tips
My usual foodie tips apply, so be sure to book a reservation on Resy to avoid long wait times and scope out the food and drink menus in advance. And if you’d like to show some extra support, check out the cool merch menu for branded gadgets and copies of their popular comic book-themed menus.
Cocktails
Most of the drinks were $17 each, which isn’t a huge increase from the $16 they used to cost. I ordered the Kiss & Tell cocktail while I was waiting to be seated. This kick*ss cocktail started the night off right with Ketel One Vodka, Caravedo Pisco, Rhubarb, Vanilla, Watermelon, Lemon, and Hibiscus Bitters. It was sweet with a tart after-taste. The Pearl Jam has Copper Dog Scotch Whiskey, Jamaican Rum, Campari, Lemon, Pineapple, and Mace. Check out the cocktail menu for more of their classics! But if you’re not sure what to order, tell the waitress to recommend something based on your preferred alcohol base (i.e. whiskey, gin, tequila, etc.).
Food
I ordered the Braised Local Rabbit, which was listed under Thursday on the “Weekly Food Specials” section of the food menu. My dish was served with spring peas, wild mushrooms, spring onions, and egg noodles. The rabbit was better than I expected since it is such a gamey choice of meat.
Influenced by my cousin, Melissa, I checked out Goosefeather last weekend! This modern Cantonese restaurant reminded me of a Chinese tapas bar.
