Chic Nail Trend... Black Gel Manicure
Even though it’s basic, I love a good black gel mani when I have no nail designs in mind for my visit to the nail salon. My mani was influenced by Somewhere, Lately's IG post. I got my nails done at Studio L, a Japanese nail art studio right near Times Square.
Gel Soak
So I’ve actually never had a “gel soak” manicure done before. This type of gel manicure is also sometimes referred to as “gel soak off” polish. Here’s what my nail artist explained to me. The difference between what I was getting down and a basic gel nail polish is that a gel soak is 100% pure gel, while other gel nail polishes are a combination of gel and polish. This means that it is less likely to chip and should last a full 2-3 weeks, while gel polishes have been infamous for lifting and peeling back almost like a sticker. And you can soak them off, just as you would a “regular” gel manicure.
Polishes & Options
Here are some of my favorite shades of black from SNS dipping powder to Presto gel polish to a basic Essie nail polish. They’re all available on Amazon. As for the “gel soak,” I recommend checking out Beyond Polish.
Here are the deets on the pearly whites I was flashing last month. These Vanilla Chrome nails were the perfect neutral for every outfit I wore.
